GRITIT Group is delighted to introduce you to one of our latest members of the team. Leah Littlechild joins the surfacing operations team in the South.

The significance of Leah’s appointment, not only in enhancing our surfacing site delivery team, is that Leah becomes our first female surfacing site manager.

At the age of just 21 Leah becomes our youngest surfacing site manager, her experience as a management trainee provided the opportunity for Leah to experience different roles in small rotations including on the tools, laying asphalt, estimating projects and site supervising.

Leah is following in the footsteps of her father who has been in the industry for over 30 years, with stories of his day and the lure of outside work in the summer, after completing school Leah joined her dad on the tools.

Knowing her end goal, Leah worked hard-working her way up to site manager, “I joined as a site manager working with both civils and surfacing operatives. My first big project was the complete resurfacing of Tesco in Bedford. This is a key project for me to make a good first impression with a key client and also with my colleagues.”

Haroon Rashid, Surfacing Division Managing Director said “Leah is a very bright and ambitious site manager who will play a key part in our delivery for many years to come, it’s a pleasure welcoming her to the team and we wish her luck in what no doubt will be a very successful career for her. I hope Leah’s story will inspire other young women to join the construction industry and welcoming them to our organisation.”

Upon Leah’s appointment, she was asked what enticed her to join, Lead said “GRITIT Group is a very ambitious business with strong plans to keep growing. They were enthusiastic about helping me achieve my personal goals while developing alongside the business. It seemed like a genuinely confident and successful team, and I wasn’t wrong. I’m very glad I made the move over, hopefully there will be more big things and good news for myself and GRITIT Group in the near future”.
